Expanding Renewable Energy Through Idle Land Utilization

As part of its initiative to enhance eco-friendly energy production, a solar power plant has been installed in the parking lot of Hyundai Motor Company’s Ulsan plant by utilizing idle land within the facility. Hyundai Motor Company is actively expanding solar power installations across its domestic business sites, including the Ulsan plant, to increase the use of renewable energy and contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions.

Unused land reborn as energy power plant

Establishing a solar power plant:
– Hyundai Motor Company is establishing a solar power plant by installing rooftop solar panels in the storage yard and parking lot of the Ulsan plant.

Securing renewable energy power:
– Hyundai Motor Company plans to secure approximately 27 gigawatt hours (GWh) of renewable energy power annually by installing solar modules on idle land at its domestic business sites.

Diverse use of land:
– Hyundai Motor Company is increasing land utilization by installing solar panels while maintaining existing uses such as vehicle waiting areas and parking lots.

Signing the largest PPA in Korea:
– Hyundai Motor Company has signed the largest power purchase agreement (PPA) among domestic companies to procure 64 megawatts (MW) of solar renewable energy for its Ulsan plant by 2025.

Continuous investment and expansion:
– Hyundai Motor Company is continuously investing in building solar power infrastructure at its domestic and overseas business sites, and has also installed solar power facilities at its Indian business site.
