The largest rooftop solar power plant in central Korea
KCC announced on the 22nd that it has expanded its rooftop solar power plant, making it the largest solar power plant in the central region. The newly expanded solar power plant at KCC’s Daejuk Plant has a power generation capacity of 8.5 MW, capable of producing 10.4 GW of electricity annually. When combined with the existing solar power generation facilities at the Daejuk Plant, the power generation capacity will reach 13 MW, with an annual power production capacity of 15 GW.
Transforming a factory's idle space into a self-consumpting solar power plant
This solar installation can supply electricity to approximately 5,436 households that consume 230 kWh per month for an entire year and is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 6,996 tons annually. KCC stated that the facility serves as a strong example of a rooftop solar power plant effectively utilizing idle factory space. At the Daejuk Plant, which manufactures gypsum boards, ample rooftop space was available due to the need to install a straight-line conveyor belt spanning several hundred meters. A total of 37,483 solar modules were installed on the Daejuk factory roof, covering an area of 71,401㎡. As of now, KCC operates 14 rooftop solar power plants in total, including those at the Daejuk, Gimcheon, and Yeoju factories, with a combined generation capacity of 32㎿.
